Chinese company Huawei is considering the Russian operating system “Aurora” as a possible alternative to Android. This was announced by the publication the Bell, citing two sources knowledgeable about the negotiations.
According to Federal officials, CEO of Huawei Guo Ping has discussed with the Minister of digital development and communication Konstantin Noskov before the St. Petersburg economic forum the possible transition of Chinese smartphones to “Aurora”, the Russian version of the operating system Sailfish.
According to another source, this issue was raised at the meetings between Vladimir Putin and XI Jinping.
Also, the first source said: “China is already testing the device with pre-installed Aurora”.
In addition to the transition to “Aurora”, the top Manager of Huawei discussed with the Minister of communications the possibility of transferring production to Russia part of Huawei devices. We are talking about a possible joint production of chips and software.
